Training for activists on methods and techniques of research within the project "Strengthening capacities of Roma for public activism – United we reach more!"

On Saturday 05.11.2016. in the premises of the Congress Centre Premier in Podgorica, it was held training for activists from Roma communities. They were trained how to conduct a research on the position of workers employed in public utility companies. The training was led by an expert in the field of methodological research Professor Miloš Bešić. He explained the concept of research to the activists, and explained possible obstacles that need to be overcome to ensure that research will result with most positive outcome. Participation in the training took 14 activists from seven Montenegrin municipalities. In addition training was also attended by representatives of the NGO Young Roma, a partner organization of the Union of Free Trade Unions, as well as a consultant Sanja Elezovic.

Meeting with Representatives of Organizations working on improvement of Roma and Egyptians position

At the premises of PR Center in Podgorica, on 26.10.2016. was organized a meeting with representatives of organizations that are working on improvement of situation of Roma and Egyptians. Young Roma, as a partner organization on the project ,,Joint initiative to empower Roma civil society on the Western Balkans and Turkey" initiated this meeting in order to exchanged information and experiences with colleagues from other organizations, in relation to activities undertaken to improve the situation of Roma and Egyptians.

Presentation of the “Beat your prejudice!” project

On 26th of October 2016, NGO Young Roma held press conference and presented new project - “Beat your prejudice!”. Project is implemented in cooperation with debate club “Agora” from Faculty of Political Science and funded by the Embassy of the United States - Podgorica, through Democracy Commission Small Grants Program. It strives to contribute to raising awareness on necessity of reduction of discrimination, racism and persistent negative cultural prejudices against Roma by working with young citizens of Montenegro.
