The representatives of Young Roma visited the Roma settlement in Budva in order to discuss with the residents of the settlements the most problematic issues affecting the community. The visit was organized on 21.10.2016. as one of the regular activities carried out within the project ,,Joint Initiative to Empower Roma Civil Society on the Western Balkans and Turkey".
During the visit our team notted that in the past period in the settlement Palestina did not happen any progress and the difficult situation in which the inhabitants of the settlement are living are still present. A certain number of them has problems with personal documentation, while almost all of the residents are living in poor conditions, with inadequate housing facilities. Unresolved housing issue is the biggest problem that the inhabitants of Palestine have. The land on which they reside for many years has been privatized and they are facing with eviction while the municipality deos not have a plan for providing substitute solution for their accommodation.
In a conversation with one of the residents we have received information about the difficulties that individuals from the village are facing when it comes to access to health care and also with the attitude of officers of local institutions towards members of the Roma population. NGO Young Roma team clarified certain procedures as well as the availability of our team in terms of help with communication with the institutions. On this occasion, we invited a representative of the community to attend a meeting of organizations involved in improving the situation of Roma, which will take place on 26.10.2016. and where they will be able to obtain information which organizations are active in the field of Roma integration, and which activities are carried out, in order to know where they can ask for help in solving the issues they face.
