WORKSHOP ON MOTIVATION IN EDUCATION

On June 30, 2021, NGO Young Roma organized a workshop on motivation in education for students from Roma population. Workshop was held in the premises of the Elementary School "Savo Pejanović", and it was led by Nada Mitrović, who works as a pedagogue at the Elementary School "Mileva Lajović Lalatović" in municipality Nikšić. The workshop was organized as part of the project Learning Support for Roma High School Students, implemented by NGO Young Roma, and funded by the UNICEF office in Montenegro.

The workshop was attended by fourteen students from Roma population who finished ninth grade of primary school in the 2020/2021 school year, and from the next school year will attend one of the secondary schools in Podgorica. At the workshop, students talked about their plans for the future, and also presented their goals in terms of education. Also, at the workshop, they did practical exercises on how to anticipate all the factors that hinder them in the realization of their plans and goals at the beginning, or if they cannot influence them, to adjust their plans to the given circumstances. In the end, the participants expressed great satisfaction that they had the opportunity to participate in the workshop in this period, which is of special importance to them.

Project Learning Support for Roma High School Students aims to prevent early dropouts of Roma students enrolled in the first grade of high school, improve their overall school success at the end of the school year, by providing mentoring support, workshops to help students raise awareness on specific topics as well as through the provision of peer support in learning.
