Visits to secondary schools in municipality of Bar

Representatives of NGO Young Roma visited high schools in Bar municipality on October 15, where students from Roma population attend classes and where our organization implements programme of mentoring support.

On that occasion, we organized meetings with the school management and discussed about the situation with attending and organizing classes in this school year, when there was a change in the way classes are conducted due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

We visited:

1. Secondary vocational school in Bar

2. School of Economics and Catering in Bar

We also discussed topics related to high school scholarships, selection of mentors, student attendance at classes, online monitoring, the effects of COVID-19 virus on Roma students, integration of Roma students in the school system, and the importance of mentor support.

Finally, representatives of NGO Young Roma informed school representatives to the future plans of the organization in terms of educational programs with special emphasis on the municipality of Bar.

This activity was held in the framework of the project "Increasing access and participation of Roma students in secondary education and transition to the labour market", funded by the European Union, and implemented through the Roma Education Fund.
