Workshop for job searching skills

In the premises of the Employment Agency of Montenegro in Podgorica on June 18th 2020, a workshop on building up the necessary skills for finding a job after finishing high school was held for high school students from the Roma community.

The workshop was led by a psychologist and counselor at the Labor Office, and the topics which they have covered were: applying to the Labor Office and searching for a job after finishing high school, professional orientation for those who want to enroll in college, and the correct behavior at a job interview.

After the introductory part, where the participants were introduced to the application procedure at the Labor Office, they talked about what is CV and how a cover letter should look like when applying for a job, as well as how to dress properly and what to avoid during a job interview.

After the theoretical part, the participants had the opportunity to apply what they discussed about in practice - by simulating a job interview where someone got to act as an employer and someone else as a potential job candidate, there they had the opportunity to practice their behavior at a job interview, but also to find themselves in the role of the one who employs.

Some accompanying materials with all the information in relation to the discussed topic of the workshop were also given to the students.

This activity is part of the project "Increasing access and participation of Roma students in secondary education and transition to labor market" which is funded by the European Union and implemented through the Roma Education Fund (REF). NGO "Young Roma" is a national partner organization for Montenegro.
