Members of the Working Group on public activism of young people visited the Institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms

Representatives of the NGO Young Roma and members of the Working Group on public activism of young people visited the Institution of the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms (Ombudsman) on 12th June. The Working Group for public activism of young people is formed of participants of Student activism program, within the project "United we reach more - Voice to students, support to workers!"
Deputy Ombudsman, Mr Siniša Bjeković and his colleagues Milena Krsmanović and Dina Knežević addressed the participants on behalf of the Institution. They presented the mandate of the Ombudsman, the procedures for filing complaints and acting upon them. In addition, they explained to participants the rules that apply to the application of the discrimination test, the difference between unequal treatment and discrimination, and the difference between forms and areas of discrimination.
The members of the Working Group asked questions related to the work of the Ombudsman in fields of education and employment, with a special focus on members of the Roma community, youth and persons with disabilities. In this way, members of the Working Group gained a better insight into the work of the Institution and learned important information which will be valuable for the publication that will contain recommendations for public activism and improvement of the position of the Roma community, youth and persons with disabilities in the areas of employment and education.
Aforementioned activity is implemented within the project "United we reach more- Voice to students, support to workers!". The project is funded by the European Union within the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) through the National Support Scheme for Montenegro (CBSS) and co-financed by the Ministry of Public Administration of Montenegro.
