Simulation of parliamentary debate on the Faculty of Law, in the framework of student activism program ''Voice to students!''

In the framework of the project "United we reach more- Voice to students, support to workers!", a simulation of parliamentary debate was organized on April 7 at the Faculty of Law in Podgorica. Parliamentary debate was attended by students from Roma and majority population who are participants of student activism program "Voice to students". The simulation at the Faculty of Law came after training on parliamentary debates in Petrovac, after two simulations at the Faculty of Political Science and one at the Faculty of Law in Podgorica. The aim of this event, as well as the previous ones of parliamentary debates, is the promotion of public youth activism in Montenegro.

Participants discussed and proposed amendments to the Law on the election of councilors and Members of Parliament. The reason for rediscussion of this Law is, among other things, that this Law is going to be the subject of parliamentary debate on April 8 in the Parliament of Montenegro. In the occasion of marking International Roma day, the event in the Parliament will be the final simulation of parliamentary debate. Established fictional parties in the framework of student activism program - Social Democratic Idea, People's Justice, Side by side,United Social Democratic Party, as well as independent deputies, proposed numerous amendments to this Law.

Although numerous amendments were proposed, participants agreed that the subject of the Parliament's debate on the International Roma Day, for which they are preparing at the Faculty of Law, are three key aspects: political participation of Roma population, greater representation of women in electoral lists, and greater accessibility of entire electoral process for people with disabilities.

The training was completed by evaluation of participants who attended the simulation of parliamentary debate at the Faculty of Law. After the forthcoming parliamentary debate on April 8 in the Parliament, participants will be awarded with certificates for successful completion of student activism program.
