With activities of the program of student activism "Voice to students", the implementation of the project "United we reach more- Voice to students, support to workers!" continues, by conducting a simulation of parliamentary debate at Faculty of Political Sciences on March 9 and 10 in Podgorica. The event was attended by students and activists from Roma and majority population. The purpose of this event is to encourage participants to think critically, develop their rhetorical skills and enable them to participate in parliamentary debate in order to influence public policy and decision- making process that concerns, among other, the issues of Roma, social issues , as well as minority rights.
During the work at the Faculty of Political Science participants are divided into four groups, representing fictional political parties: Social Democratic Idea, People's Justice, Side by Side, and the United Social Democratic Party. Each party chose its leader. The participants designed programs of parties that will define the party and distinguish it from other parties, as well as orient the party during the proposed amendments to the Law. In addition to the four parties, certain participants represented members of Parliament group consisting of three independent members.
The theme discussed at the simulation of parliamentary debate, was the Law on Youth from 2016, with amendments from 2018. During the debate, participants had the opportunity to see how internal and inter-party negotiation works, as well as to participate in voting and discussion that followed at very end of the simulation.
The training ended with the awarding of prizes to the participants. Prizes were awarded to the best speaker, the best negotiator, the best leader, and the best team. Simulation of parliamentary debate will continue at the Faculty of Law, and the final simulation is scheduled for April 8th, in the Parliament of Montenegro.
