Meeting with the Mayor of Niksic Municipality
On July 1, the Executive Director of the NGO Young Roma, Mr. Samir Jaha, participated in a meeting with the new Mayor of Nikšić, Mr. Marko Kovačević. On that occasion, he congratulated him on his new position and pointed out that the Roma community has higher expectations from the new authorities for a stronger commitment and solving the problems of the Roma community at the local level. He introduced him to the activities of the ROMACTED programme in the first phase, the most important of which was the opening and equipping of the office for social inclusion associates in the local school.
WORKSHOP ON MOTIVATION IN EDUCATION
On June 30, 2021, NGO Young Roma organized a workshop on motivation in education for students from Roma population. Workshop was held in the premises of the Elementary School "Savo Pejanović", and it was led by Nada Mitrović, who works as a pedagogue at the Elementary School "Mileva Lajović Lalatović" in municipality Nikšić. The workshop was organized as part of the project Learning Support for Roma High School Students, implemented by NGO Young Roma, and funded by the UNICEF office in Montenegro.
State to make additional efforts to support Roma students
Aware of the fact that certain systemic changes in education require time, the state and the institutions of the system should start making efforts as soon as possible - in the financial, personnel, and especially program part, in order to express the readiness of relevant institutions to contribute in improving the educational process and educational outcomes of students from the Roma and Egyptian population, concluded today at the conference Mentoring as support for Roma and Egyptian children in primary and secondary schools organized by the NGO Young Roma.
