Vijesti 4april2015

This weekend, the organization "Hope and Direct Air" from Great Britain donated footwear, food and hygiene items to Roma and Egyptians who live in camps in Konik. On this occasion, they shared 24 tons of aid to the most vulnerable populations from the camps 1 and 2.

Red Cross of Montenegro, in cooperation with the UNHCR provided significant assistance in importing and organizing help. It was announced that this was not the first time that "Hope and Air Direct" is helping those in need in the Balkan countries.

"The first time they came to Montenegro in 2010 and brought 30 tons of aid to residents of the Konik camp. The total assistance for this year is 24 tons", noted Red Cross.

The organization "Hope and Direct Air" is composed of volunteers who collect aid on their own and then transport it to a destination.

The Army of Montenegro was also involved in the distribution of aid to residents of Konik and also provided temporary storage.

UNHCR representative, Darka Minić, said that the assistance of humanitarian organizations came at the right time and that they brought a lot of useful items.

The program director at the Red Cross, Mensut Krpuljević,  said that he was glad that the residents of Camp 1 rejoiced nice gifts, especially since numerous other activities are being prepared for the International Day of Roma, April 8.

Representatives of the "Hope and Aid Direct" will continue to distribute help to residents of camps in Konik today from 9 to 17h.

The party for the children on the International Roma Day

On the occasion of the International Roma Day, the foundation "The hand of friendship" organizes a Kinder party in the playroom "Zujalica" in the shopping center "Bazar" in Block Five, tomorrow at 10:15h.

The foundation announced that the aim of the party is to gather socially disadvantaged RE children affected by poverty, with peers of other nationalities.

They pointed out that every child from RE population, with their single parent must bring peer buddies, members of the majority nation with its parent.

This, they claim, will contribute to the elimination of prejudice and discrimination against Roma and Egyptians.
