On August 6, 2020, the NGO Young Roma, with the assistance of the Red Cross Niksic, organized the second action in a row to award aid packages for RE families from Niksic. Through this action, 3,200 kg of food and hygiene products were provided for 100 Niksic families from the Roma and Egyptian communities, i.e. 100 packages of food of 26 kg each as well as 100 packages of hygiene products of 6 kg each. For this action, EUR 2,300 without VAT was spent, and the funds were provided through the ROMACTED programme funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.

This action was realized at the request of a part of the Roma community in Niksic in order to mitigate the consequences of the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, as a result of which many poor families are existentially endangered, with an irregular source of income and unemployment. Members of the Local Action Group for the Municipality of Niksic, Nardi Ahmetovic David Salja, Denisona Berisa, and Valjbona Naza, made a special contribution to the action of allocating aid packages.
The first action of help in the municipality of Niksic was organized in March 2020, in three Niksic settlements: the settlement of Budo Tomovic, Brlja and in the settlement within the hospital. This action provided 30 food packages of 17 kg per package, 30 hygiene packages of 7 kg per package and 30 bags of flour of 25 kg each, which represents a total of 1,470 kg of aid worth 945 EUR.
Concluding with this allocation, through the ROMACTED programme in the past period, a total of 26 tons of aid in food and hygiene packages were awarded to 485 Roma families.
Programme ROMACTED - Promoting good governance and Roma empowerment at the local level is created to build the political will and sustainable policy of local government participation, increase local governance, build capacity and encourage the empowerment of local Roma communities to contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring plans and projects concerning them. The ROMACTED program is funded by the Council of Europe and the European Union, while the NGO Young Roma is a partner organization in implementation. The Programme is implemented in seven countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey, in a total of 64 municipalities.
