Meeting with mentors in elementary school „Marko Miljanov“ in Podgorica – 28th October 2020

On October 28th, 2020, representatives of NGO Young Roma held a meeting with parents of Roma students whose children will be beneficiaries of mentoring support program provided by NGO Young Roma. This support is targeted for eighth and ninth grade elementary school students. Besides the parents, the meeting was attended by mentors from this school who are selected to participate in these activities.
The meeting was also attended by a social inclusion associate (mediator) at school, Sanja Celebic, who is now in charge for delivering printed material to students, as the current situation regarding the organization of classes caused by Covid 19 pandemic, as well as lack of transportation, disabled to attend classes at school.
Samir Jaha, Executive Director of NGO Young Roma, presented the goal of the project and thanked the parents for their presencel. On that occasion, he emphasized how important the role of parents is in the education of children and that this is the basis for any further work. He also presented the most important activities in the field of education, which will be implemented in the coming period.
At the meeting, the parents were also introduced to the mentoring program that will be implemented with their children, for which they gave their consent.
This activity is part of the project "Improving primary education - first step towards quality secondary education", supported by the Roma Education Fund (REF).
