Road sanation in the Riverside settlement

On April 6, 2020, members of the Local Action Group from Berane organized an action to sanation of the road in the Roma settlement of Riverside. There are 26 houses in this settlement, and the road so far has been in very poor condition, which has greatly affected the maintenance of hygiene in this Roma settlement.

30 cubic meters of gravel were provided for this action, and 230 EUR without VAT were allocated for this purpose. The action itself was implemented as one of the goals of the work of the Community Action Group, which is to improve the well-being of the entire Roma community. The action was organized within the programme ROMACTED - Promoting good governance and Roma empowerment at the local level. Members of the Community Action Group, in the coming period, in cooperation with the NGO Young Roma, will continue to work on improving living conditions in the Roma settlements of Riverside and Talum in the Municipality of Berane.

The ROMACTED programme is funded by the European Commission and the Council of Europe, and it is implemented in the Western Balkans countries (Montenegro, Serbia, BiH, Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia) and Turkey in more than 60 municipalities aiming to improve the position of Roma and Egyptians at the local level. In Montenegro, this Programme is implemented in eight municipalities: Berane, Bijelo Polje, Niksic, Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Tivat, Bar and Ulcinj. The supporting organization of the Programme for Montenegro is the NGO Young Roma.
