On December 5th and 6th, representatives of the organization Young Roma visited elementary schools in Podgorica, in which the activities envisaged by the project "Improving primary education - first step towards quality secondary education" are being implemented. The selected schools in Podgorica are: Primary School "Božidar Vuković Podgoričanin", Primary School "Marko Miljanov", Primary School "Savo Pejanović" and Primary School "21. Maj ".
Meetings were held in all schools with mentors selected to support pupils of the Roma and Egyptian communities during the 2019/2020 school year and help them enroll in high school. Eighth and ninth grade pupils are covered by this project.
In the school "Božidar Vuković Podgoricanin" we talked with six mentors, in the school "Marko Miljanov" with four mentors, in the school "Savo Pejanović" three mentors are hired, and in the school "21. Maj“ there is one mentor selected.
On this occasion, we met with teachers-mentors, discussed the problems that children face in schools and talked about specific subjects in school they have difficulties with. We also talked about further activities of mentors with children. Mentor-teachers are as well familiarized with the reporting forms and how to fill them out.
This activity is part of the project "Improving primary education - first step towards quality secondary education", supported by the Roma Education Fund (REF).
