Strengthen of Roma community in Municipality of Bijelo Polje

Through the ROMACTED programme, the facilitator from Bijelo Polje, Rafet Mulic, has organized on 19 and 24 June Community Action Group meetings. The meetings were organized with the aim of empowerment Roma community members, in order to express their interest in solving problems within the community. In order to formulate constructive proposals for changing the situation in the Roma community, the meetings discussed the housing problems of Roma in the Rakonje settlement, the arrangement of the Roma settlement of Strojtanica, the cultural integration of Roma in the municipality.

Also, in order to empower communities, the facilitator for the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, through a public call for project proposals under the small grants scheme, announced by the organization Help, made a project proposal for the local NGO Roma Movement. Thus, the project Cultural Integration of Roma in the Municipality of Bijelo Polje aims to contribute to the construction and strengthening of Roma culture and Roma identity in Montenegro. Specifically, the project will also deal with improving the promotion and presentation of Roma culture and traditions in Bijelo Polje.
Programme ROMACTED - Promoting good governance and Roma empowerment at the local level is created to build the political will and sustainable policy of local government participation, increase local governance, build capacity and encourage the empowerment of local Roma communities to contribute to the design, implementation and monitoring plans and projects concerning them. The ROMACTED program is funded by the Council of Europe and the European Union, while the NGO Young Roma is a partner organization in implementation. The Programme is implemented in seven countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey, in a total of 64 municipalities.
