Training on simulation of parliamentary debates was held from February 15 to 17 at Hotel "Palas" in Petrovac. This is the fourth training organized in the framework of student activism program "Voice to students", and it was preceeded by training on democracy and human rights, the political system of Montenegro and public policies, and public relations.

This event brought together 21 participants, students and activists from Roma and majority population. Given that one of the objectives of project is to improve the inclusion of young Roma and students in shaping of political and public life in Montenegro, the purpose of training was to educate participants about parliamentary debate, because strengthening rhetorical abilities is one of the ways that contributes to empowering student activism in decisions making process.

Lecture as well as practical part of three-day training were led by lecturers Irena Gigović and Aleksandar Drekalović. The training consisted of presentations, interactions with participants, specific examples as well as exercises on which the acquired knowledge was best applied. Lecturers tried to transfer knowledge about basic formats of the debate, the principles and the importance of parliamentary debate.

A part of the training was devoted to exercises where participants were asked to talk about various current topics in different formats they had previously adopted. A short version of parliamentary debate was conducted with aim to encourage critical reasoning, to clearly define problems, and to strengthen rhetorical abilities in public appearances.

Through the next phase of the project- simulations of parliamentary debates forthcoming in March and April, the education of participants of students activism program will continue.
