Working visit to enterprise Deponija d.o.o.

We use the opportunity to inform the public that The NGO „Young Roma“ and „The Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro“ completed the working visit within the project “Waste no chance! – Promoting employability and labour rights of Roma waste collectors“.
Namely, on 12 December 2017, the project team, together with the group of the collectors of secondary raw materials from Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi and Budva, visited d.o.o “Deponija” in Podgorica in order to exchange experience in the area of doing business within the enterprise, getting acquainted with the process of the collection of raw materials, their adequate storage and waste management.
The visit was organized to serve as one of the segments for providing support to individual collectors of raw materials. Such a visit was aimed at presenting to which extent a joint and structured work can build capacities, networking activity, the improvement of their knowledge in the area of waste management, entrepreneurship, working rights and doing overall business. The highlight of the visit was to establish a continuing set of their own structures which will enable them the improvement of working conditions, an equal treatment in a labor market as well as an adequate valorization of their work.
Mr Dejan Danilovic, the manager of the working unit for recycling, on behalf of the d.o.o “Deponija” welcomed the group of the collectors of secondary raw materials.
In the previous months the NGO „Young Roma“ enabled the possibility of acquiring additional knowledge and skills to 20 candidates from the four above mentioned municipalities within the scope of joint actions, syndical activism, work protection, financial management and entrepreneurship, through three training sessions, specially designed to meet the needs of the targeted group.
Furthermore, the organization initiated a tender procedure for the supply of equipment for pressing and weighing secondary raw materials: (one press machine and one balance per municipality), which will be used by the collectors of secondary raw materials in the forthcoming phases of the project in the four aforementioned municipalities. In this manner, an ever increasing level of the participation of Roma people, the collectors of secondary raw materials has been reached in the process of their inclusion into the labor market and the business development. Roma people, the collectors of secondary raw materials will be included in the process of training for the usage of advanced technologies for processing secondary raw materials.

The project „Waste no chance!“ has been financially supported by the European Union through a grant scheme „The development of human resources for 2012-2013“ (The implementation of the project of training and employment of disabled individuals and RE population). The Agreement on conducting the following activities was signed with “The Ministry of Finance of Montenegro”, The Directorate for Finance and Contracting of the EU Assistance Funds (CFCU). “The Ministry of Labor and social welfare” is the institution in charge of the monitoring of the phases of the project, and the overall grant scheme.
