Young Roma, in the framework of the project "Joint Initiative to Empower Roma civil society on Western Balkans and Turkey", which is financially supported by the European Commission, allocated small grant funds in the total amount of 7,500.00 euros for four organizations.
The organizations that received small grants were:
1.NGO "Đakomo Adriatic", "Local Action Plan for Roma - ONLY PLAN OR ACTION?", Bijelo Polje.
2.NGO "Rose", "School without violence", Berane.
3.The NGO "Association of Egyptians", "Roma and Egyptians together in school in the Bay of Kotor", Tivat.
4.NGO "ROM-Phiren Amenca", "Monitoring of Roma integration in Podgorica- MIRuPG", Podgorica.
The contest for small grants to non-governmental organizations was published in October. In total, nine organizations submitted proposals, which were discussed by the Commission consisting of representatives of the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, representatives of International Organizations Help, as well as representatives of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro in the role of observers.
The aim of small grants is to support local (pro) Roma organizations, which are, through its work, contributing to improvement of the situation of Roma community.
The project within which the program of small grants allocation was implemented, is a regional project aimed at establishing a structure that will facilitate the Roma civil sector to actively participate in local and national politics and decision-making process, as well as the establishment of a constructive systematic dialogue between government and NGOs so they can affect the process of integration of Roma at local, national and regional level. Coordinator of the project are organizations Roma Active Albania and ERGO network from Brussels, while Young Roma is included as a partner for Montenegro.
We expect that these projects will contribute to improving the situation of Roma in the local level, and to demonstrate by their own example that the quality and hard work, can make progress in the field of Roma integration.
