Sarajevo Youth Summit

“Sarajevo Youth Summit” was held from 14 to 16 of October, 2015. Participants used this opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with activist from all around the world, and discuss about fight against authoritarian regimes, activism of digital era and ways of establishing long-term and stabile peace in post-conflict societies.

Serdjan Baftijari, NGO Young Roma associate, attended summit in Sarajevo, a city that according to the organizers always knew to recognize and accept all people of good will, no matter where they come from and what are their names, a city that was always enriched by differences, as it enriched every participant of this event. It was concluded that what happened in Sarajevo should be always remembered in order for young people to become leaders which will create the world without horrors and sufferings that once occurred. As participants were from the countries that are still young democracies in the process of transition and are facing similar problems, it was emphasized that no matter how far they live from each other, they all have great communication and understanding. “During every session, formal and non-formal meeting, breaks between panels, parties and summit in general, it was clear that nobody came to Sarajevo by coincidence or mistake. We felt that we all understand each other, we recognized the desire of participants to be future leaders of the world in which we would all like to live, and we met young people that are ready to devote themselves to the benefit of others”, said Đorđe Bojović, summit coordinator.
