Founding assembly of the trade union of utility workers in Niksic successfully organized

NGO Young Roma , together with project partner, Free Trade Unions of Montenegro and Roma Circle at premises  of KUD ,, Zakumlje” Nikšić, organized, on Friday 22.04.2016.  Founding assembly of Free Trade ,, Public utility company” Nikšić. More than 50 percent of employees in this company showed high level of willingness to start with activities that will improve working condition, protection of  labor rights, and business improvement of this company.

Founders of Free Trade have made the decision on the accession to Free Trade Union of Montenegro, as representative Trade organization, on national level.

At the Founding assembly, unanimously was selected President and Executive board. Transparency, membership unity, and welfare of the company, are the principles on which the work of Trade Union  will be based on.

Founding assembly was attended by general secretary  of Free Trade Union of Montenegro, Srđa Keković, and he expressed appreciation to employees on trust  toward Free Trade Union , and showed willingness to give all necessary logistic and legal help to membership of the new Trade union , regarding its future work.  Taking in consideration that part of this company employees are from Roma community, Founding assembly was attended by Director of the NGO Young Roma, Samir Jaha. He wished successful work to the chosen members and presented the activities , that organization Young Roma is implementing  with focus on project ,, Strengthening capacities of Roma, for public activism- United we reach more!”. In mentioned project, Free Trade Union is a project partner, and Project was funded by Delegation of European Union to Montenegro.

One of the project goals is , supporting unionization and  activism among employees from Roma community, and protection of labor rights of Roma and non- Roma population.  Workers employed at Public utility company will have opportunity to gain knowledge about possibilities that unionization offers , and also to gain skills to conduct activities of the Trade Union.
