Sastanak-OpstinaKO

Representatives of the NGO Young Roma, Samir Jaha, Dženita Brčvak and Ibrahim Tatari held a meeting with Tijana Čađenović, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture, Sport and Social Affairs and Romeo Mihovic, advisor for Roma issues in the Municipality of Kotor. The meeting was also attended by Mustafa Sadrijaj, a representative of the local Roma community.

During the meeting, presented the work of both organizations in a given area, and especially pointed out the failures and successes in implementing the Local Action Plan for the integration of Roma and Egyptians in Kotor.

The meeting, however, particularly raised the issue of housing for Roma and Egyptians from settlements Prvoborac and Lovanja 2, who live in extremely poor housing conditions. Representatives of the Roma civil society particularly emphasized necessity of finding suitable site for the relocation of these people, and especially to take all steps to avoid any form of ghettoization and further marginalization of the RE population. On the other hand, CSO representatives are ready to make efforts to resolve this issue in cooperation of all actors involved, while providing mediation in communication with international donors who would be willing to financially support these activities.

The municipality has expressed its willingness to examine all options for resolution of this issue in consultation with local authorities and related ministries.
