Promotion of the book "Kosovo Carousel"

Centre for the Preservation and Development of Culture of Minorities of Montenegro organized yesterday a book promotion of authors Ruždija Ruso Sejdović and Jovan Nikolić "Kosovo Carousel" at the National library "Radoslav Ljumović" in Podgorica. This war tragicomedy depicts the true story of the fate of a Roma family during the war in Kosovo in 1999.

Nikolić and Sejdovićš's drama indicates the pogrom that Roma experienced during the armed conflict in Kosovo. Many of the characters are fictitious. The event is not. The authors suggest that this convergence of Roma and Romani groups Ashkali and Egyptians to Kosovo Albanians during the war in Kosovo resulted in ethnocide and the exodus of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptians to many European countries.

However, what attracts and gives a contribution to the whole manuscript is certain presence of humor, which destabilize even the most morbid scenes, together with the equally deliberate lack of alignment on the side of the persecutor or persecuted.

Author Sejdović visited the office of the NGO Young Roma today, whereby he spoke about the activities of Roma movement in Germany and possible directions for the development of the Roma culture and language in Montenegro with the executive director, Samir Jaha, and project manager, Dženita Brčvak.
