CARE International Balkans with Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the National Coordinator of the Decade, Focal Point of the Decade for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Decade Secretariat as well as partner organizations organised a regional conference „Do Roma Women Have the Right to Safe Life?“. The conference was held in Sarajevo, October 15 – 17, 2014.
The goal of the conference was to ensure in existing National Action Plans of BiH, Montenegro and Serbia adequate policies/programs and trainings for Roma women with regards to reproductive health and gender based violence and provide them with the access to direct support and assistance.
The regional conference was one of the final activities of the three-year regional project „Active Inclusion and Rights of Roma Women in the Western Balkans“ implemented by CARE International Balkans within the Decade of Roma Inclusion 2005 - 2015 in partnership with women Roma CSOs from the region: „Better Future“ Tuzla (BiH), „Center for Roma Initiatives“ Nikšić (Montenegro) and „Roma Women Center – Bibija“ Belgrade (Republic of Serbia). The three-year project, and this conference, is financially supported by Austrian Development Cooperation.
Almir Tahiri, representative of NGO Roma Restart, participated at this conference through NGO Young Roma, Decade Focal Point for Montenegro.
