BUCHAREST: The Decade - To be or not to be

This meeting was hosted by the Government of Romania, the first presidency country of the Decade. The purpose of this meeting was to gather National Coordinators of the Decade, representatives of the international partner organizations, including the World Bank and the Open Society Foundations, as well as Roma activists, to discuss the vision on the future of the Decade as well as agree on a more detailed model of a new (Decade) Initiative.

In consultations with Decade Secretariat, it was agreed that Mr Samir Jaha, as DFP representative shall take part in this event. Mr Jaha took part in the discussion followed by the panel on Roma participation. Namely, Mr Jaha reminded that social inclusion as process cannot be complete unless there is proper participation of mere Roma. He also pointed to the importance of including Roma agents in the monitoring and evaluation bodies over the Strategy for Roma Inclusion, particularly referring to Montenegro. After received the minutes from the Bucharest meeting, NGO Young Roma translated the minutes in Montenegrin and distributed it to Decade Secretariat and all Roma interested civil society organisations operating in Montenegro.
