Samit-intro

Representative of NGO Young Roma, Mr Samir Jaha participated at the third EU Roma Summit held in Brussels on 4 - 5 April. A Pre-Summit Meeting was organised on 3rd April by ERGO Network in order to fine-tune the actions around Summit, the joint declaration and  other joint initiatives for ERGO members, allies, Roma NGOs invited to the meeting and international organizations.

Samir Jaha as Roma representative from Montenegro participated in activities around the EU Roma Summit and was a member of Wall Free Promotion team – providing facts and images of segregating walls in Europe, promoting the Pledge for Roma Dignity at Roma Summit in Brussels and inviting present delegates to sign the petition.

The third Roma summit took stock of progress made on Roma inclusion in the European Union since the last Roma summit in 2010. Going local on Roma inclusion both in the EU as well as in enlargement countries was the central focus of the summit. Besides Mr Jaha, other Montenegrin delegates were Milan Radovic (Civic Alliance), Elvira Hadzibegovic Bubanja (Forum MNE), Klaus Mock (HELP), Jovan Subotic, Vice President of Herceg Novi, Budimirka Djukanovic (Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare), Sanja Zugic (Ministry for Human and Minority Rights). Montenegrin Minister for Human and Minority Rights had official speech which was later distributed by NGO Young Roma to other Roma CSOs.
