NGO Young Roma in collaboration with the Employment Office launched a training program for making and selling jewelry, which lasted 45 days, starting from August 1. Funds for this project were provided through a Public Works Program of the Institute for Employment. The program included four unemployed young girls from the Roma community (Zarija Gaši, Senada Ahmetaj, Indira Rama and Arijana Ahmetaj).
Great support and assistance for the this program, the first of its kind in Herceg Novi and Roma community from this city, was received from the German international organization HELP - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe eV via their office in Podgorica. HELP covered the costs of hiring teachers and trainers who trained the selected candidates. A similar program named DORRA (Domestic Handicraft Roma) is being implemented the Konik, also with the support of HELP.
Bearing in mind that this project contributed to reduction of unemployment and increase of employability and competitiveness of RE population, NGO Young Roma will endeavor to provide additonal funds for the project, in order to create the conditions for our Romani girls to be absolutely trained to independently launch a small business and open private shop.
