ROMACTED team meeting in Podgorica

On 12 of July 2021, a meeting of the team to organized in Podgorica to support the implementation of the second phase of the ROMACTED programme in Montenegro. The meeting was attended by program managers, representatives of the partner organization and newly elected facilitators.

This event was primarily an opportunity for team members to get to know each other and agree on ways of working and cooperation. In the beginning, the contact person from the NGO Young Roma, Samir Jaha, presented the achieved results and lessons learned from the first phase of the ROMACTED programme. The presentation provided an analysis of the situation in all partner municipalities, which enabled the facilitators to learn more about possible ways of further action. It was jointly concluded that the Programme created a good basis for continued activities and gave significant results, primarily through the activation of members of the Roma community and the establishment of cooperation with representatives of local authorities. However, there are still many initiatives and challenges that need to be addressed in the coming period.
In the continuation, the coordinator of the ROMACTED programme, Marina Vasic, presented the second phase of the program with an emphasis on new components: 1) mitigation of the consequences caused by the Covid-19 epidemic; 2) responsible budgeting; 3) Reintegration of Roma returnees. The implementation of small grant scheme projects will be one of the novelties in Montenegro. The Project Officer for Montenegro, Milica Kovacevic, presented the ROMACTED methodology. During the discussion, the most important discussion was about working with Local Action Groups and cooperating with local authorities.
The joint program of the European Union and the Council of Europe, ROMACTED II phase (2021 - 2024), will be implemented in seven municipalities: Bar, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Herceg Novi, Niksic, Tivat and Ulcinj.
