Organized workshop on bulling with Medical School Students in Podgorica

On Friday, April 23, 2021, the NGO Young Roma organized a workshop on the topic of bullying for students in the first, second, and third grade of the PI Vocational Medical School in Podgorica. The workshop was organized as part of the project Learning support to secondary school Roma students, implemented by the NGO Young Roma, and funded by the UNICEF office in Montenegro.

The workshop was attended by 12 students, 3 of whom were from the Roma population. The workshop on bullying was led by Aida Perovic Ivanovic, a psychologist and executive director of the NGO Prima. She talked to the students about the ways bullying occurs, about different types of bullying such as violence on social networks and the Internet in general, violence at school, sexual violence.
Special emphasis was on the part of the workshop where students were able to express their views on what they can personally do to prevent the problem of bullying in their environment. The workshop was also attended by Professor Milana Raicevic, who pointed out that the Vocational Medical School is trying to really eradicate this problem completely, so the School itself works also as an Office for the Suppression of Violence.
The project Learning support to secondary school Roma students aims to prevent early dropouts of Roma students enrolled in the first grade of high school, improve their overall school success at the end of the year, by providing mentoring support, workshops to help students raise awareness on specific topics as well as through the provision of peer support in learning.
