announces a PUBLIC CALL

for hiring tutors for Roma and Egyptian students who are regular students of the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades of primary school

The NGO Young Roma is announcing a public call to hire teachers on the territory of Podgorica, Nikšić and Berane and, if possible, in other municipalities, which will hold classes in mathematics, English and Montenegrin from 19 April 2021 to 10 June 2021 students from the Roma and Egyptian populations attending the 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th (fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh) grade of primary school.

AA-11-TUTOR

Tutors will be assigned the following responsibilities and tasks:

A. Basic duties and goals of the tutor

1. Holding classes lasting 45 minutes twice a week for groups of four Roma students.

2. Tutors are obliged to hold classes live with students, respecting all epidemiological measures.

3. Monitoring students' progress and helping to improve their grades in the subject taught by the tutor

4. Gathering information about the needs and problems of students;

5. Motivating older students to enroll in high school;

B. Group classes with students

1. Creating a learning plan for a group of Roma students (4 in one group) based on the assessment of their level of knowledge in a particular subject

2. Monitoring the progress of the student group; revising the learning plan if necessary;

3. Encouraging and advising students to think about enrolling in high school

4. Cooperation with school mediators hired by the Ministry of Education;

5. Provide free space for organizing classes,

C. Communication with NGO Young Roma

1. Writing and submitting reports twice a month on their work according to the form submitted by the NGO Young Roma

2. Submission of a certificate of student grades in the subject taught by the tutor and a plan for working with students

3. Timely informing the NGO Young Roma about all significant changes in the status and success of students in school.

Criteria for mentor selection:

  • Graduate teachers of school subjects (mathematics, English and Montenegrin language)
  • Teacher work experience in one of the target subjects (mathematics, English, Montenegrin language, classroom teachers - only for 4th and 5th grades) in primary school of at least 3 years, preferably 5 years and more work experience
  • Experience in working with students from marginalized groups and additional classes
  • Good communication skills in working with students and parents
  • Understanding the educational difficulties faced by children from the Roma population
  • Computer skills; technical and computer literacy

Note:

Teachers cannot be tutors to those students to whom they normally teach the subject for which the student has applied. Mentors who are already engaged through one of the programs implemented by the NGO Young Roma do not have the right to apply for tutors.

The fee for one tutor is 100 euros per month, it is mandatory to organize 8 group classes per month (2 per week)

The fee for classes held is paid at the end of the month after the tutor submits both monthly reports

One tutor can have only one group of 4 students to teach.

Preference will be given to schools that have a significant number of Roma students

Along with the completed application form, the candidate is obliged to submit the consent of the school principal for his / her potential engagement in this program. The director's consent form was also submitted with this competition.
