Visit to Secondary Vocational School Ivan Uskoković in Podgorica, 28 January 2021

On Thursday, January 28, representatives of the NGO Young Roma visited the Secondary Vocational School Ivan Uskoković.

On that occasion, a meeting was held with mentors and students - beneficiaries of mentoring support within the education program implemented by the NGO Young Roma in cooperation with donors - the UNICEF office in Montenegro and the Roma Education Fund (REF). In the school Ivan Uskoković, 19 students are included in this program, and 14 of them are in the first grade. More than half of these students choose the career of auto mechanic, and the rest of the students are majoring in motor vehicle driver, welder, locksmith, installer for forwarding, customs and transport organization, installer of sanitary devices, heating and air conditioning.

During this meeting, the participants talked about the current way of teaching in the conditions imposed by the pandemic of the COVID-19 virus, the challenges they face in their work. The mentors agree that the online regime was an obstacle to quality work and that traditional teaching is more suitable for both students and mentors, teachers.
It is concluded that work will be done in order to improve the success and regularity of students.
